I am Louis and I first noticed I had OCD when I was 7. Nicola (my Mum) also has OCD and she noticed I was tapping the table 4 times and things like that. It was making me feel a bit sad and worried that it would stick with me forever. Even though it was hard, I had to find a way to fight it.
How do I fight OCD.
I learned some ways to fight my OCD. I imagine a bus and that I am the driver. It is up to me who gets on the bus and who doesn’t. I imagine my thoughts are like little monsters demanding that I take them where they want to go, I have to tell them no and that I am in charge of where we are going.
What happens when I let OCD win
If I don’t fight it takes over my life. I find myself wherever I go having OCD thoughts. Like telling me to tap things 4 times, like repeating words in my head…”Hello hello, my my, name name, is is, Louis Louis”, sometimes I have to walk in a perfectly straight line. Sometimes I can’t help but keep looking at something in the classroom but I am only allowed to look at a certain part of it. It makes me feel tired and you need to get tired of it too.
The more we know about OCD the more we can beat it. I can’t wait to invite some experts onto mindsheadsandhearts.com who can help us with our OCD and much more.
